Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Study for Iowa (Impaired Waters)

A Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) is the greatest amount of a pollutant that a water body can receive without violating water quality standards. It assigns the amount of pollution that can be contributed by the pollutant sources as well. A TMDL study identifies both point and nonpoint sources of each pollutant if that pollutant does not meet water quality standards.
