The Ames Urban Fringe Plan (2006) is a shared land use plan cooperatively developed by Boone County, Story County, the City of Ames and the City of Gilbert. The Plan provides guidelines for understanding and predicting future land use planning for the area. The Plan consists of written principles and policy statements, along with a Land Use Framework Map, which, together, establish guidelines and locations for areas of growth, agricultural land preservation, and natural areas protections.
