Smart Planning Toolbox

The Smart Planning Toolbox is a key source for website users to find information regarding smart planning throughout the State of Iowa and beyond. The idea originated from a report by the state-appointed Iowa Smart Planning Task Force, which recommended a planning toolbox as a way to help implement the principles of Iowa's 2010 Smart Planning Legislation.

Since that time, the toolbox has been primarily developed by the University of Iowa's School of Urban and Regional Planning and the Iowa Chapter of the American Planning Association. Its suggested audiences range from professional planners, elected officials, business leaders, developers, architects, to any individual who has an interest in planning.
